The Ash Lad: In the Hall of the Mountain King

Espen is the youngest of three sons of a poor farmer. He is used at home as the family's drudge, who is incapable of any useful work and just walks around the woods with his head in the clouds catching lions. His only task at home is to keep the fire going in the stove so that it doesn't burn out. And it's probably just a coincidence that it was in the forest that he met Princess Kristin, who is on the run from her native castle. Kristin is stubborn, doesn't believe in the old stories about the Troll King who has a thing for princesses, and most of all, she doesn't want to marry the conceited Prince Frederik, whom her father has chosen for her. The day before her eighteenth birthday, she prefers to go to the unknown. Unfortunately, not long after meeting Espen, she discovers that the rumours about trolls are true. Meanwhile, the unsuspecting Espen manages to cause more trouble. He can't even keep an eye on the embers in the stove and, thanks to his absent-mindedness, sets the whole cottage on fire. So when the king announces a search for his disobedient daughter and promises her hand and half the kingdom to whoever finds her, the brothers don't hesitate to set off on their quest. The older ones to get a new roof over the family's head, and the youngest would like to have her hand as well. Their journey soon turns into a great adventure where they meet many monsters, magic and magical places. And at the end, the terrifying and invincible Troll King awaits.
