For centuries, the Earth has been inhabited by two non-human races. The aristocratic vampires or vampires and their sworn enemies, the brutal lycans, the werewolves.
People don't believe in their existence, it's only in superstition and horror stories. But they are here, fighting an eternal life-and-death struggle for dominance over the other. It would seem that it has been established once and for all, but appearances are deceiving. Vampire warrior Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is convinced of this when she discovers that the werewolves are planning their next big action. This time, they're sharpening their teeth on a young human doctor. Selene tries to help the young man, named Michael (Scott Speedman), and protect him from an attack from the underworld. At the same time, she falls in love with him, complicating matters... The more she becomes entangled in Michael's pending kidnapping, the more she gains information that scares her. For the moment of creation of a new predator, combining the power of both vampires and werewolves, is imminent. Yet he has none of their weaknesses. Such a monster would upset the balance of the two races, and worse, tip it in favour of the Lycans.
