To the Ends of the World
It is 1945 and the Vietnamese people are resisting French colonisation. Vo Binh Yen, Ho Chi Minh's aide, organizes an uprising. The north of the country is occupied by Japan, which is at war with China. Into this horror is set the story of a young French soldier, Robert Tassen. In March 1945, he was the only survivor of a massacre in which his brother and his wife also died. He manages to escape and is found, exhausted and wounded, by a little girl in the Vietnamese rainforest and is given help by the local people. Robert pulls through and then sets off on his next journey....
